January 21st, 2010

Starting off your calling among one of the bigger public accounting firms is a great way to begin your career. Being a Headhunter myself, I have spotted first hand the high quality price for which hiring managers in public accounting place on Big four candidates. It is a great place for people to start their accounting careers.

The Big Four

For those who don’t know, allow me to share the accounting firms who are considered to be the Big Four:

* PriceWaterhouse
* KPMG
* Deloitte & Touche
* E&Y

You may attain immediate attention with HR Professionals and Executive Recruiters if the resume displays one of the prior firms. The question is now, how can you get in for an interview with the Big 4?

How to Get Hired by Big 4

1. Excel in University Studies – merely put, to become part of the best, it is important to demonstrate that you are the best. People do get rejected when their grade point average fails to measure up. Do your best in college because it will assist you later.

2. Almost Always Be Networking – Many people get their foot in the door because of a relationship with a person within the inside. A former colleague might have the capacity to aid you in gaining the interview. Develop solid relationships in school.

3. Impress Your Superiors – As you can imagine, no one desires to brown nose, on the other hand what you should recognize is that many of those professors are well respected in the regional accounting community. This can help you in gaining the interviewas well.

Most importantly, stay at it. It might not happen for you immediately, on the other hand keep approaching them in a number of ways and things could eventually happen for you. Everyone gets their start eventually and it will happen for you as well.  Persistence is the key to success. Always has and always will.
