Car Insurance and Comprehensive Coverage

April 22nd, 2010

Investing into cheap car insurance for 17 year olds policies does not have to be just an obligation, a chore, something that has to be done. Instead, this experience can be used to save an incredible amount of money due to lower car insurance rates by taking advantage of several methods such as getting savings and discounts along with potentially changing car insurance companies because another provider has better deals. While all of this is quite easily said, vehicle owners must be willing to put in some decent time and effort to get the nicest deals on the market because they are definitely not going to show up on the doorstep for no reason. However, for those individuals willing, wanting, and dedicated to choosing better car insurance companies the results are only a matter of time away because people that are persistent and consistent will eventually see results. Luckily, this process should not take longer than a day or two and once that has been completed there is no need to start reviewing car insurance carriers again for about six month.

Comprehensive coverage is sort of like the type of protection that fills in all of the blanks that are left with car insurance coverage. For instance, while liability protection takes care of others, collision takes care of the at-fault driver’s vehicle, comprehensive is everything else including damage from theft, vandalism, fire, natural disasters and collisions with animals. While the likelihood to some of these events happening can be quite rare, some cities present a stronger need and demand for certain car insurance coverage while others where weather problems and theft are not a huge issue this protection may not even need to be purchased. Overall, having comprehensive car insurance coverage is definitely not a poor decision because there are plenty of things covered and this can help ensure that just about any event will be taken care of in terms of being reimbursed.

What Not To Do During Your Insurance Negotiations

February 1st, 2010

Sometimes, negotiating with an insurance company can be tricky.  You need to keep you head on your shoulders and remember that the insurance company is in business, they’re there to make money, not to make friends.  If you adopt the same attitude, you’ll be much less likely to be taken advantage of.  Here’s a few things that you should absolutely not do during your accident settlement negotiations.

First, never agree to an auto accident settlement that’s made immediately or on the spot.  Most insurers will want you to settle faster if possible because it gives you less time to really assess the damages you’ve suffered or talk to a lawyer.  It’s an easy way to pay you less money than you deserve.  Some people may even be enticed because they can pay all their medical bills up front without having to worry about it, but in the long run if you don’t get your damage estimates right, you’ll end up paying the remainder of your bills out of your pocket.

Second, make sure that you don’t admit fault in the accident.  Most people are aware of this and won’t directly admit fault, but you can indirectly admit fault with some of your language.  Instead of saying you were in an accident when the company first calls you, instead say you were hit by the insurance company’s client.  This places the blame squarely on him and not on you.

Finally, don’t estimate any of the damages that you’ve had to date until you’ve had time to tally them all together.  You won’t know exactly how much it costs to repair your car or to completely heal your body until its all done.  Complications can arise at any time.  So don’t set a ceiling with the insure by giving them an estimate of your damages before your ready.  This can result in a much lower settlement than if you told them the right amount when you finally knew it.

Using Auto Insurance Discounters To Get The Cheapest Rate

January 29th, 2010

Are you looking for affordable auto insurance? You may have seen the advertisements for online auto insurance discounters and companies that want to offer you the best possible rates out there. Many of these companies can offer you affordable auto insurance coverage, but are you really getting the protection you need?

The first thing you need to understand is that affordable auto insurance is a myth. You may find a plan that you are comfortable with, but there is no way to truly get your auto insurance rates to drop significantly. If you have children that are getting their drivers license, your insurance rates will only get higher and affordable auto insurance will seem like a dream.

The second thing you need to understand is that your personal credit score does play an important role in obtaining affordable auto insurance. Your existing policy may not change, until you purchase a new car or you decide to change your policy. A low credit score can cause you to pay several hundred dollars more per year for insurance coverage.

The third thing to learn is that working with companies you have dealt with in the past is going to be your best way to find affordable auto insurance. Auto insurance specialists like to offer rewards to customers that will insurance their cars and their home with the same company. You will need to set up your account on a direct withdrawal plan in order to save even more money. Staying with an insurance company for a long period of time will provide you with a loyalty discount.

The fourth thing to use to your advantage is education. If you attend drivers education courses and make efforts to improve your driving, your auto insurance company will offer you a discount. They also offer discounts to individuals with car alarms and locked garages as this poses a lower risk for the company.
